Description

ESEE James Gibson Model 5 1095 Black Oxide Stonewashed Drop Point Burgundy Linen Micarta Handle ESJG5LM

The ESEE JG5 is a modern interpretation of the classic Nessmuk-style knife, inspired by 19th-century outdoorsman George Washington “Nessmuk” Sears. Designed by James Gibson, this knife is built for serious bushcraft, hunting, and camp tasks. Its 5.0″ black stonewashed 1095 high-carbon steel blade excels at carving, slicing, and general woodcraft chores, while the full-bellied drop point shape provides power and control in every cut.

The contoured burgundy linen micarta handle offers a comfortable, secure grip—even in wet conditions—and its sculpted texture mimics flint knapping for added tactile control. A 90° spine allows easy fire-starting with a ferro rod, making it an essential tool for backcountry adventurers. The knife comes complete with a premium leather belt sheath for secure carry in the field.

Beginning in 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin started down the path of reshaping the manner in which the survival and wilderness industry carried out business. Having become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype often associated with “survival” gear and training, they launched Randall’s Adventure & Training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market.

Working under contract with the Peruvian Air Force’s “Escuela De Supervivencia En La Selva” (School of Jungle Survival), also known by the acronym ESSEL, they introduced many clients to the art of jungle survival in the vast Peruvian Amazon jungle.

After a number of years operating in South America, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high quality field grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives

Their first design was the RTAK made by Wicked Knife Company in Arkansas, and later produced by Ontario Knife Company (OKC). They also developed the TOPS Knives made Laser Strike. After spending five years developing the RAT line for OKC, they launched ESEE Knives.

Today the ESEE brand is known and distributed worldwide. ESEE Knives / Randall’s Adventure & Training clientele ranges from special operations personnel, rescue technicians, hunters, law enforcement, border security, film crews, outdoorsman and professional adventurers. Their courses and gear have been featured on the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel and in numerous movies, books, leading outdoor magazines and trade publications.

The company’s philosophy is simple: treat the customer with respect, keep the prices fair, provide the best in quality, and never teach a skill or provide a piece of gear that hasn’t been tested in the real world.

Every student that walks through the doors of Randall’s Adventure & Training leaves with a set of skills that will stay with them throughout their life. Furthermore, every end-user of an ESEE product knows they are backed by the industry’s best warranty and customer service.

In the world of factory knives, survival gear and wilderness training, ESEE/Randall’s Adventure & Training is one of the only companies where the owners and employees all live the lifestyle of the gear they produce and the training they teach. No suit and tie, just hard-won ground truth that is reflected in some of the world’s best knives, gear and training.
